We published one paper on decadal terrestrial CO2 budget analysis in SE Asia with Masayuki Kondo (Assistant Prof. in this group) as the first and corresponding author and K. Ichii as second author. I (Ichii) would like to express thanks to Masa and all contributing authors, in particular, Prabir-san, suishinhi-members, and GCP members.
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-018-03374-x Key messages are: (1) Including land use change is very important to explain decadal variations in terrestrial CO2 cycles in SE-Asia. We successfully get consistent CO2 budget changes at decadal time-scale among top-down vs bottom-up if we include land use change in the bottom-up model. (2) Natural climate variations (e.g. El Nino) have huge impact on terrestrial CO2 budget. Decreases in CO2 releases in 2000s were explained by lack of extreme climate event (e.g. El Nino), although amount of land use change emission did not change much. We also had a good press interview in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Tokyo on March 20.
